Bar Feeding System

Bar Feeder

The bar feeder is a specialized material handling machine designed to semi-automate the feeding of parts to an induction forging machine. The hopper is manually loaded and automatically unloaded one at a time.

Specifications and Features:

  • Bar Diameters – 0.75” to 2.00” OD.
  • Bar Length Range - 3.50” to 36.00” Long.
  • Rod Feeder has a side wall storage area of 750 sq. inches, holding approximately 200 pieces of the 2” diameter parts, or approximately 6.7 to 200 minutes production supply.
  • Parts must be placed in the storage bin diameter to diameter.
  • The left hand sidewall, viewed with parts going, will be adjustable to accommodate the length range.
  • Parts discharge from the feeder diameter-to-diameter, radial axis horizontal.
  • The bar feeder is driven by a 120-volt, single phase, 60 hertz, gearmotor wired to terminals.
  • A hinged door with safety switch will be provided at the operator load area.
  • One at a time escapement mounted on the discharge track of the rod feeder.
  • The escapement is supplied with stainless steel barrel and rod air cylinder and a 4-way solenoid valve with speed controls wired to terminals for connection to your electrical control.
  • An FRL is included.
  • Electrical components of this feeder will be wired to a NEMA 12 terminal box.
  • Floor support stand is constructed with square tube legs with foot pads having leveling screws and lag down holes.
  • Stand to have guarding between rod feeder and stand as well as a front guard to assist in cell isolation.

In-Feed Pusher System

The typical in-feed unit uses a high speed conveyor to bring the billets to the positive pusher assembly, pinch wheel, tractor drive or cylinder assembly, to feed the coils at a controlled rate.

Specifications and Features:

  • Heavy-duty multi-chain drive.
  • Beveled sprockets for smooth chain meshing and noise reduction.
  • Variable speed motor and heavy-duty gearbox.
  • Heavy-duty steel construction.
  • Critical wear items manufactured from hardened steel.
  • Solid state lost motion controls.
  • Polyurethane tired or knurled steel pinch wheels.

Standard Fast Extractor Assembly

Includes the following:

  • Fast extractor assembly to transfer billets out of the coils with eccentric action to separate any billets welded together in the coil.
  • Reject system comprised of a hardened chain conveyor, and pneumatically operated gating mechanism with manual override. The reject system allows for quality control during the billet heating operation.  Any billets which are above or below the specified temperature will automatically be rejected to one side of the billet heater into a container supplied by the Customer.
  • Optical pyrometer with analog temperature indicator integrated with forge heating system controls.
